ABOUT

Since his concerto debut at the age of 16, violinist Mark Oshida has carved out a distinctive career that has led to performances in more than 25 countries.  He has performed with many of the world's leading ensembles including the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Boston Pops.  
 
Recent highlights include performances at the BBC Proms (UK), Menuhin (Switzerland), Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), Grafenegg (Austria), Enescu (Romania), Perth (Australia), Stresa (Italy), La Chaise-Dieu (France), Shanghai International Arts (China), and Tanglewood (USA) music festivals.

In 2023, Mr. Oshida completed a national tour across 35 American states, serving as Assistant Concertmaster for the Netflix concert production
 of Our Planet narrated by Sir David Attenborough. He also performed at the 2020 World Expo hosted in Dubai as well as at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP28).         

Mr. Oshida is a member of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and a former member of Boston's Emmanuel Music, an ensemble dedicated to performing Bach's complete cantata cycle as part of Sabbath worship services. For four years, he recorded and toured with the Grammy Award winning Mormon Tabernacle Choir, accompanying artists such as Bryn Terfel and Frederica von Stade.  

Mr. Oshida has worked with many of the preeminent conductors of his day, including Sir Neville Marriner, Jaap van Zweden, Michael Tilson Thomas, Charles Dutoit, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Manfred Honeck, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vasily Petrenko, Neeme Järvi, Kristjan Järvi, and Thomas Sanderling. Mr. Oshida's principal teachers have been Igor and Vesna Gruppman, and his mentors include the composer John Harbison and the choral conductor Craig Jessop.  

A graduate of Harvard University (MBA), the Royal Academy of Music (MA), and Brigham Young University (BS), Mr. Oshida resides in London. He plays on a late 17th century violin by Andrea Guarneri and a bow by D. Peccatte.
